The Festival which is completely free to attend aims to educate and empower women by connecting them with local health services in a creative, inclusive space.
Join us for a wonderful day filled with health presentations, a Festival GP, a menopause hub, resource sharing, workshops, art, delicious food, and so much more...

From Clay to Home: with Joanna Dawidowska
Join ceramic artist Joanna to explore the ideas and meaning of home & belonging.
Whether you're a beginner or have some experience with ceramics, Joanna's workshop is designed to nurture your creativity and help you connect with the concept of home in a tangible way. By the end of the workshop, you'll not only have crafted personal keepsakes but also gained a deeper understanding of how art can reflect and shape our sense of belonging.

Join Paper Artist Jennifer to hand stitch lampshades using end of life papers, books and maps to create your own small paper lampshade that will be added to a fantastic light installation that will grow throughout the day

Dr Mehmood is a local GP and will be joining us with her festival Women's Health clinic.

'We are Stronger Together' with Ali Woolacott
This workshop offers a chance to relax and appreciate everyday fabrics and their impact on our lives. Participants will collaborate using found fabrics to create a strong rope by joining materials based on patterns and colours. In the afternoon, the rope will be shaped into a spiral, reflecting themes of community, growth, and life's natural progression.

The Wonders of Honey, Honeybees and Beekeeping with Jo Berrimen
Join Jo, hobbyist beekeeper, to experience her enthusiasm and knowledge of these wonderful insects. Jo has been keeping bees for 8 years and has a number of colonies around her garden and village.
On the day, you'll also have the opportunity to purchase Jo's delicious honey.

Botanical Monoprint Workshop with Rebecca Jarman
Explore colour and layering with Rebecca a local watercolour artist and printmaker. Using stencils and foraged botanicals you will create a unique gelliplate monoprint to display at home. This workshop promotes calm and relaxation and is perfect for beginners.

Kate Jackson β Endometriosis Champion/Advocate
Kate has been diagnosed with Endometriosis for over 20 years and has had several treatments and procedures to manage her symptoms. Kate is willing to share her lived experience of the condition, itβs impact on her life, the diagnosis and treatment processes, as well as listen to others and offer support and advice to others.

Shahzana will be our interpreter at the Festival to support those whose first language is Urdu/Punjabi or Mirpuri.

The Festival has invited various NHS clinical teams to participate and share their knowledge, providing women with the opportunity to explore their health in a relaxed, non-clinical environment. This unique opportunity enables attendees to engage in meaningful conversations and gain valuable insights into a variety of health topics, covering everything from preventive care to the management of chronic conditions.

Health Presentation
11am and 3pm
Join Gaynor Lowe and Alison Cropper from the Cervical Screening Team at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) as they present to you the journey of a smear test in an interactive and immersive talk and workshop, with models and slides and the opportunity to look down a microscope to look at cells from a smear test sample.
Alison and Gaynor will also be available to chat before and after the presentation in the Cinema room.
The Menopause Cafe
The Drama Studio - All day drop in session
Join us in the menopause hub to talk all things menopause with three incredible women all passionate about raising awareness about the symptoms of menopause and helping women to find ways to manage them.
Dr Farri Starley (between 11 - 12.30pm and 3pm - 4.30pm) is a local NHS GP with a special interest in womenβs health. She has recently completed the British Menopause Society Management of the Menopause accreditation training.
Claire Claxton is a menopause awareness advocate and career coach, she hosts the monthly Menopause CafΓ© at The Brewhouse.
Justina Rice is a Menopause Coach, Personal Trainer, and Sports Nutritionist who embraces a holistic approach to menopause wellbeing that includes exercise, hormonal and mental health.
The hub will provide valuable advice, resources, and access to expert insights or just somewhere to have a chat and feel less isolated on the menopause journey
